About the IFGA

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Independent Filmmakers Guild of America (IFGA) is to offer community, support, and resources for independent filmmakers and content creators at all experience levels. The membership of the IFGA represents a broad spectrum of independent contractors and freelancers in any area of the independent filmmaking industry. Whether you are a producer, director, writer, production assistant, actor, gaffer, casting agent, location scout, camera operator, or other member of the cast or crew, you are welcome to be a part of this widespread community of independent artists.

POLICY ON DIVERSITY EQUITY & INCLUSION

The IFGA believes in justice and equity for independent filmmakers. While we are not a labor or trade union, we do believe in and support the advocacy of film production at all levels. We believe in promoting social justice and diversity by addressing issues related to but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, culture, religion, age, and ability.

BEST PRACTICES & ETHICAL PRODUCTION STANDARDS

The IFGA is working on a handbook for Best Practices and Ethical Production Standards for Independent Film Production.

These are general guidelines and production recommendations for those working in the independent film and content creation worlds. This handbook is being put together based on a combination of the hands-on experience from members, the incoming results of the State of the Industry Survey, and additional research.

Once complete, theĀ Best Practices and Ethical Production Standards for Independent Film Production handbook will be made freely available to IFGA members.

POLICY ON LABOR UNIONS AND TRADE ASSOCIATIONS

We support all members who join, promote, and advocate for their unions or member companies in trade associations based on their specific industry and/or area of expertise.

ADVISORY BOARD

The IFGA Advisory Board is made up of working and experienced professionals. Each has been in the industry long enough to amass practical experience to aid and offer insight, support, resources and/or services aimed at aiding, informing, and/or educating members and the IFGA.
